Why Does Captivate Keep Crashing!?!
December 19, 2016
I’ve been an eLearning designer and developer since 2005, specializing in the creation of interactive and engaging learning experiences. In 2015, I launched my own eLearning design business and began producing Adobe Captivate video tutorials on my YouTube channel, CaptivateTeacher, to support clients and fellow developers. This content not only helped me grow my business globally—it also introduced me to a wider community of aspiring Captivate users who now turn to me for training and mentorship. Today, I provide both online and onsite Adobe Captivate training, empowering others to build effective eLearning with confidence. I’m proud to be part of the Adobe eLearning Community, sharing knowledge, collaborating with other developers, and contributing to the growth of this platform.

There is a known issue where because of the very nature of what Captivate does if you don’t run it with administration rights, it will likely crash at some point. That said, there are many reasons that software can crash. Some of the most common are that the software is missing other vital components, the software was installed incorrectly, or your system is limited in some way, perhaps it doesn’t have enough RAM or a proper GPU.

It’s difficult to know for sure based on a short description of your problem. When I run into software not performing correctly I usually just reinstall it. For example, I had a problem with the Assets button not launching the Assets interface. I complete uninstalled Adobe Captivate. I also went the extra mile and deleted any of the folders that also get created when you install Captivate and then I did a fresh install. This took twenty minutes or so, but my guess is that was less time than trying to troubleshoot the problem for possibly days and days.
