Captivate Classic – Closed Captioning – Can’t Change Text Color
July 17, 2023

I am running version 11.8.2 of Captivate Classic on a Mac and I can’t seem to change the color of the text for my closed captioning. I can select a new color in the CC settings menu, but the text color in the project remains black. This issue only started after downloading the latest software update.

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue.

Has there been any resolution to this problem?  I’m having the same  issue.  Captivate Classic 11.8.2.216 on a MacBook Pro, Ventura 13.3, Apple M2 Pro chip.

I have just experienced this issue as well using version 11.8.2.254. This is the first time I have encountered the problem, but it now appears on multiple files.
I have cleared the cache, closed the browser, tried different browsers and restarted the computer.

Was your troubleshooting successful? 11.8.2 has bugs, for real development I keep a system with 11.5.5.553 which was the most stable version of CP2019.

I also had this issue and could not resolve it before my project was due. (running captivate on mac). When I opened my older project in the updated version of captivate, my closed captioned text was changed from white to black and I could not change it back. I tried changing by slide and globally with no luck. Ended up swapping out the color of the background behind the closed caption text so that it was legible on all slides.

It looks to be a Mac issue. Please log a bug report.

Did you change the color for the slide or for the project? Mac users are very rarely around here to answer questions, I am a Win user. You may have detected another bug for the Mac version. Did you try the usual troubleshooting: Clear cache, Clean Preferences?

How did you detect the problem: in Preview or after publishing?
